Hero Acclaimed For Saving Man In Stafford Car Fire [VIDEO]

Fire officials released a surveillance video showing the incident, and town officials and the rescued victim gathered to honor a hero.

STAFFORD, CT — Town officials have hailed a Good Samaritan as a hero after he bravely pulled a motorist out of a car which had just exploded and caught fire in early November.

Edward Cyr was heading out to dinner with his wife around 6:50 p.m. on Nov. 1, traveling southbound on Route 32 just past the Charles P. Holt Memorial Fountain, when they witnessed a northbound car explode and burst into flames. Surveillance video mounted on top of nearby Town Hall, released Wednesday by the Stafford Fire Department, shows Cyr immediately ran from his car toward the burning vehicle and pulled the driver to safety, Chief David Lucia said.

The driver, 61-year-old Glenwood Little of Ashford, joined town officials in a ceremony proclaiming Cyr as a hero.
