STAFFORD, CT — A longtime fixture on Route 190 in Stafford will soon be closing its doors, as signs recently posted in front of the building and in the window are promoting a contents sale this coming weekend.

John The Jackman Co. is now sporting a pair of signs reading, "Contents Sale - Going Out of Business - November 16 - 8:00 to Noon" in front of the shop at 112 West Stafford Road, across from the intersection of Orcuttville Road.

A leading area hydraulics and pneumatics rebuilding company, John The Jackman was founded in 1946 by John Michalec Jr., who was active in the business until his retirement in 1986, according to his obituary published when he passed away at age 78 in 1995.
