Stafford, E.O. Smith HS Fall Sports: Past Titles, 2018 Schedule

A look at the state championship history in fall team sports at Stafford and E.O. Smith high schools, plus the 2018 fall schedules.

STAFFORD-STORRS, CT — Practice is now officially underway for all eight CIAC-sanctioned fall sports in Connecticut, with boys and girls cross country, field hockey, football, boys and girls soccer, girls swimming and girls volleyball teams setting out on their quests for league and state championships.

Among schools in Patch communities in Hartford and Tolland counties, Glastonbury is the all-time leader with 38 fall team championships, followed by Farmington (35), Granby Memorial (34), and E.O. Smith and Manchester (29 each).

Area schools looking to repeat their 2017 state titles are Glastonbury girls cross country (State Open and LL) and boys soccer (LL), Tolland boys cross country (M), Avon girls cross country (MM) and Granby Memorial girls soccer (M).

E.O. Smith's 29 fall state titles date back to 1962, while Stafford has won 13 state championships since 1972.
