Stafford Man Nabbed With Fentanyl Stash In Vernon: Report

A Stafford man has been booked on drug charges out of Vernon.

VERNON, CT — Teamwork between a state trooper and a Vernon police dog unit led to the discovery of a drug stash and the arrest of a Stafford man, a report indicates.

The incident took place Saturday at a gas station on Route 83.

It was 5:10 p.m. on Saturday when a state trooper noticed two people passed out in a vehicle at a gas station on Route 83 in Vernon, a report indicates.

The trooper located an air pistol in the vehicle that the driver said was "for protection," and then suspected there were also nacrotics in the car. A Vernon police canine unit was called to the scene and the dog discovered a "large amount" of Xanex pills and several bags of fentanyl in the vehicle, according to a report.

Arrested at the scene was the driver, 26-year-old Dylan Ulitsch, of Stafford. He was charged with the sale of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, failure to keep narcotics in their original container and illegally possessing a weapon in a motor vehicle, according to a report.

The passenger was not charged, state police said.

Ulitsch was to appear in Court Monday.
