TOLLAND, CT — A thwarted weekend burglary that led to a wild chase in Tolland resulted in the arrests of five teens, including one who is accused of intentionally ramming a state police cruiser head-on before being tackled on foot by a police dog, according to a law enforcement report.

The case began unravelling at 2:34 p.m. Saturday when state police at the Troop C barracks received a 911 call about people attempting to steal vehicles in the area of Kozley Road, according to an arrest report.

At 2:43 p.m., Trooper Kyle Kaelberer saw the Acura traveling south on Old Stafford Rd. in the Town of Tolland, state police said.
As Kaelberer turned around to follow the vehicle, which was traveling at a high rate of speed through the intersection of Old Stafford and Dunn Hill roads and then south onto Tolland Green, where it slammed head-on into another state police cruiser, which was headed north with its lights activated, according to a state police report.
A state police report termed the crash "Intentional."
Five people exited the Acura the fled on foot, state police said.
Kaelberer and his canine partner, Drago, chased the driver, identified as 19-year-old Hartford resident Malik Price, on foot. He was apprehended by Drago and was arrested at the scene, according to an arrest report.
As more troopers, units from the Tolland Fire Police and other police dog teams converged on the area, Drago was able to locate a second suspect — 15-year-old juvenile — in a nearby wooded area, according to an arrest report.
