TOLLAND, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Champlain College, Burlington VT

  • Blake Anderson of Tolland was named to the Champlain College Trustees' List for the fall 2019 semester. Students on the Trustees' List have achieved a 4.0 grade point average for two or more consecutive semesters.

  • A once-in-a-lifetime experience. Unreal. Awe-inspiring. That's how students at Nichols College described their chance to participate on a large team of volunteers that will be hosting events for Super Bowl LIV in Miami on Sunday, Feb. 2. Cari Cyr of Tolland is one of the volunteers representing Nichols as part of a new course, The Super Bowl Operations Experience Practicum, which focuses on giving students a unique and once-in-a-lifetime experience critical to their majors and potential careers. They will be working with the Super Bowl Host Committee on events surrounding the football championship, including the Super Bowl itself. A total of 16 students attending from Nichols will be accompanied by Priscila Alfaro-Barrantes, assistant professor of sport management, and Luanne Westerling, associate dean for business.

University of New Hampshire, Durham NH

  • Four students from Tolland have been named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire for the fall 2019 semester: Kacey Dutton, earning Highest Honors and majoring in Occupational Therapy; Leah Wytas, earning High Honors and majoring in BiomedSci: Med&VetSci; Justin Szabo, earning Highest Honors and majoring in BusAdm:Finance; and Jessica Oswald, earning Highest Honors and majoring in BusAdm:Accounting. Highest honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.65 to 3.84 average are awarded high honors.
