Bill’s Auto Parts Inc. has donated $1,000 to the Tolland 300th Celebration, becoming the latest major donor to help the town mark this important milestone in 2015.
The company at 844 Tolland Stage Road is a full-service auto recycling business owned by Greg DeBacco and founded by his father, William M. DeBacco. Bill’s Auto Parts Inc. is the third “Crandall” level sponsor of the anniversary. Donors are listed on the anniversary website at www.tolland300.org. Greg DeBacco said the town of Tolland has been supportive of the business, which now includes three generations of the family.
“My father and I talked about it and knew we wanted to help out the anniversary effort,’’ Greg DeBacco said. “This town has been very, very good to us.”
The DeBaccos will be honored Oct. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at town hall by the Tolland Town Council, the anniversary committee and the Tolland Historical Society. Celeste Senechal, chairwoman of the anniversary committee, thanked Bill’s Auto Parts and the DeBacco family for their donation.
“Bill’s Auto Parts is the latest business in Tolland to give generously to support next year’s anniversary events,’’ she said. “We couldn’t provide an inclusive, townwide celebration without the support of Tolland’s many businesses.”
The anniversary events include a Charter Day celebration for schoolchildren on the Tolland Green May 12, 2015, a gala on May 16, 2015 and a large regional parade and townwide picnic, combined with the Celebrate Tolland festival, on Sept. 19, 2015.
More donations are being sought from businesses and residents who want to be a part of the celebration. Opportunities include being a member of the “Tolland 300 Club” by making a $300 donation.
Checks should be made out to the Town of Tolland, with “300th the memo line. Donations can be mailed to the Tolland 300th Hall, 21 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT 06084.
