I am supporting Steven Jones as he volunteers to run for Tolland Town Council. Steven has spent most of his life in Tolland, and is very engaged in the community, He currently serves as Secretary on the Executive Board of the Tolland Democratic Town Committee. Steven has served also as Chair, Vice Chair and Treasurer. His community activism does not stop there. He is a member of the Tolland Cert 40 Team, and is actively engaged with the Tolland Conservation Corps, working on trail clean ups and is pending a role of steward to one of the town’s conservation properties.
As a member of Friends of Tolland Library, Steven played a significant role in garnering support for the Tolland Library Expansion project, with the outcome being high turnout and a favorable referendum vote, helping to make the project a successful one. The library is a wonderful gift for all the residents of our community, no matter what age, to enjoy.
Having served two terms on the Town Council, I am aware of the need for someone of Steven’s caliber on the Council. I have seen Steven reach out to others with opposing opinions and engage in respectful dialogue. Steven can listen to all sides before making a quick judgement solely based on his opinion. His ability to remain calm, listen to all sides of an issue and weigh the pros and cons is just in his nature.
