Eversource Issues Shutdown Scam Warning

Officials at Eversource Energy on Thursday issed a warning over Twitter about scam calls involving power shutdowns.

TOLLAND, CT — Officials at Eversource Energy on Thursday issed a warning over Twitter about scam calls involving power shutdowns.

"This is not us calling," utility officials said about calls threatening to disconnect residential power unless an immediate payment is made via a prepaid money card.

"If you ever question an encounter, please call us at 800-286-2000 to verify ... Remember, don't panic and don't pay," Eversourse officials said.

A 72-year-old was recently victimized by the scam, in Connecticut according to Eversourse.
