To the Editor:

Please join me in electing Kate Howard-Bender to the Board of Education. Her experience as an educator will bring a depth to the conversation that is vital as we move forward in complicated times. She is committed to keeping Tolland a great place to live and protecting our largest asset.

Her understanding of the shifting education landscape in Connecticut and what it can mean for our children and the future of our state will be an essential asset.

The best Boards bring together committed members of the community with varied expertise to plan a bright future and address the challenges that arise for our educators and our youth. Kate is the only K12 educator seeking a seat on the BOE.

I can tell you from my own experience as a former BOE member; that perspective is crucial.

Kate’s expertise will lead the way: asking the right questions, understanding the issues, being aware of strategies employed in other communities and promoting accountability by our leaders. This last item is particularly essential.

Accountability is taken to a new level when you truly understand the tasks at hand and the resources available to get the job done.We are lucky to have wonderful BOE candidates to choose among this year.

I ask you to make it a priority to bring Kate Howard-Bender’s voice to the table.VOTE on November 7th!
