Letter: Nuccio, Reagan Endorsed In Tolland

TOLLAND, CT — To the Editor:

To my fellow citizens of Tolland ... For the past two years I have had the pleasure of serving and working with Town Councilors Tammy Nuccio and John Reagan. I strongly recommend you cast your votes for them and the rest of the Republican slate on November 5th.

I do not give this endorsement lightly and without considerable thought. Tammy Nuccio is doggedly determined to understand the finances of the town. As a first-term Town Councilor, she worked tirelessly to understand how our tax monies are spent by digging into the budgets of every department in town. Her watchwords are “transparency” and “accountability,” and she has made every effort to ensure that she can answer her constituents’ questions about how our taxes are used.

John Reagan is also a staunch defender of the taxpayer. His voting record shows that he understands the needs of Tolland’s residents of all ages and that he, too, does the hard work of understanding the town’s operations and how our tax money is spent. He’s ready to work diligently for our community, collaborating with other boards and commissions to grow Tolland’s tax base and ensure the needs of all Tolland’s residents are met.

I recommend Tammy and John to you based not only on their records of defending the taxpayer but also on their integrity and their understanding of the whole town’s needs. They listen to both those who choose to express their opinions vocally at public hearings as well as those for whom public speaking in front of a hostile crowd is terrifying. They listen to the popular opinion and the unpopular opinion. And they give thoughtful consideration to all citizens’ input as they make their decisions.

Together, Tammy and John and the other Republican candidates for Town Council — Lou Luba, Robert Abbate, and Kurt Schenher—are independent thinkers who will represent more than just one issue in Tolland.

As we’ve seen in the past, single-mindedness on issues ignores large numbers of Tolland’s residents. The Republican Candidates, Row B, are your best way of ensuring that all Tolland citizens are represented equally and fairly on Town Council, the Board of Education, and the Planning and Zoning Commission. On November 5th, I urge you to re-elect Tammy Nuccio and John Reagan for Town Council.
