Longtime Tolland Businessman Gets Surprise Retirement Sendoff

TOLLAND — Residents and town officials gave a longtime Tolland businessman a retirement sendoff on Saturday.

Ed Nelson ran the NAPA Auto Parts store for about three decades. His son, Chris, worked with hm for many years.

Well-wishers began surprising Nelson with drive-by visits in classic cars, everyday vehicles and even a fire truck.

Public safety chief John Littell called Nelson "a Tolland monument" for his dedication to the business community, the local sports scene and the Tolland Fire Department.
