Morning Message Turns Into Brush Fire Omen In Tolland

TOLLAND, CT — A quirky but serious message turned out to be on omen Monday for the Tolland fire department.

"And we're back to our regularly scheduled early Spring weather," was the morning message on the TFD Twitter account. It was, of course, a warning that the forest fire danger was high.

At about 3 p.m. a brush fire broke out behind No. 35 Charter Road.

The initial arriving crew had to call in reinforcements. It took about two hours before the crews could safely leave the scene.
