North Central Connecticut Favorites Stocked for Trout Opener
Trout season starts this weekend.

Several favorite waterways in north central Connecticut are being stocked in time for Saturday's opening day of trout season, officials from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said on Wednesday.
The opening day of trout fishing season is Saturday beginning at 6 a.m.
Some of the traditional favorite area are being stocked, including:

- The Scantic River in Somers, Enfield, South Windsor and Enfield
- The Farmingtron River
- The Hockanum Rover in Vernon, Ellington and East Hartford
- The Fenton River in Mansfield
- The Willimantic River in Tolland and Willington
- Stony Brook in Suffield
- The east branch of Salmon Brook in Granby

Each year more than 4.4 million fishing days are spent on the water by adult anglers, according to DEEP statistics.

It translates to nearly $450 million in economic activity across the state, resulting in thousands of jobs from bait and tackle shops as well guide trips to local restaurants and other support services, according to the DEEP.
