Update: Man Struck in Head While Doing Property Maintenance
The incident occurred on Monday evening and the person was transported to the hospital via LifeStar helicopter.

Update, Tuesday
The Tolland Fire Department and a Paramedic from American Medical Response were dispatched to Stag Trail at 6:06 p.m. on Monday for a report of a male victim struck in the head by a tree.
While responding units were updated that the patient was unresponsive, LifeStar helicopter was requested to respond the scene.

On arrival, the fire department found a victim in the woods just behind the house. The victim was doing general property maintenance when a rotten tree fell. It is unclear if the victim was struck by the tree or if the victim was injured trying to avoid the tree.

Fortunately, a family member witnessed the accident and was able to immediately activate 911.
LifeStar landed at the neighborhood firehouse around the corner from the incident and the patient’s care was transferred to LifeStar helicopter. He was transported to St. Francis Hospital.
Tolland officials said they had no further information regarding the condition of the victim and they are not able to release his identity.
They also reminded all citizens that cut down trees or do tree maintenance to make sure a third party is always maintaining accountability for you. They should know exactly where you are and ensure they have a charged cell phone with good cell signal in the event 911 needs to be activated.

A person was transported via LifeStar after being struck in the head by a tree.
The Tolland Fire Department and a medic provided the initial care and then the person was transported to St. Francis for further medical evaluation and care.
