The latest installment of the Picture Tolland series.

TOLLAND, CT — The latest entry in the Picture Tolland series takes us back to the 19th Century and the perfect spot for itinerant preachers.
Welcome to Pulpit Rock.
The rock sits on private property on Cook Road and the rock is not visible from the road. The view is blocked by homes and trees.

But back in the 1800s, things were different, according to Tolland Historical Society archives. Located in the middle of a hay field that formed a small amphitheater, the rock complete with a flat top, provided an ideal spot for religious revival meetings.
They took place with the preacher on top of the rock, thanks to the use of a local farmer's ladder.
