The impact from Isaias, in terms of power outages, is greater than Superstorm Sandy in 2012, Eversource officials said Wednesday afternoon.
Operating under its "COVID-19 pandemic plan" and adhering to "strict social distancing, hygiene and enhanced sanitation measures to safeguard the health and well-being of workers and customers," Eversource crews began working around-the-clock shifts Wednesday, utility officials said.
"When all priority one issues and blocked roads in the State are taken care of, Eversource will work on restoration for those left without power hoping that all will be restored within the next few days," officials said.
Officials were advising residents to call 911 only in an emergency.
Generators should stay outdoors and 10 feet from a home, officials said.
All downed wires should be considered live until serviced, officials said.
Areas of concern in Tolland included Crystal Lake Road, Loehr Road, Reed Road, Metcalf Road, Old Stafford Road, Sugar Hill Road and Williams Way.
Fire officials said to use extreme caution on local roads.
