Public Hearing On Tap On Tolland Gateway, Village Regulations

TOLLAND, CT — The Tolland Planning and Zoning Commission is conducting a public information meeting to discuss potential amendments to the town’s commercial and industrial zoning regulations for the Tolland Village Area and Gateway Design District.

The meeting is slated for Jan. 25 at 7 p.m.

The commission is seeking opinions from the residents and businesses that will be considered in the formulation of a final draft of the regulation changes.

The draft is to be presented at an official public hearing in the spring.

The goal, officials said, is to have the zoning regulations be "more usable" for economic development, as recommended in the Plan of Conservation and Development.

Changes in procedures and permitted uses are being considered, officials said.

Also under consideration is a new concept, the use of "master planning" that would supplement traditional zoning in certain circumstances to facilitate some flexibility, resulting in "better design."
