Ride to Rebuild at St. Matthew Church , Tolland

Wednesday Sept. 30th. 11:30am

Ride to Rebuild
A small team from Outreach to Haiti will start a 6-day, 339-mile bike ride, touching five of the six New England states, on September 28th, to raise awareness and funds in order to rebuild facilities in Haiti.

OTH has been in Haiti for almost 30 years serving the poor in Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas with a healthcare clinic, nutrition programs, education programs, developing and maintaining twinning relationships, and cultural immersion trips. Go to our programs tab above to learn more about any of these programs.

OTH facilities in Haiti were largely destroyed in the earthquake of 2010. An efficient and economical rebuilding plan has been put in place, and a capital campaign has been started to fund the building. (see our capital campaign page for more information.) So far, $220,000 of the $350,000 target has been raised.

Haiti%20virtual%20ride.pngThe bike ride has been planned as a “virtual trip” across Haiti. That is, the distance chosen for the trip is the distance from Jeremie on the West coast of Haiti, through the capital city of Port-au-Prince, where OTH is centered, to Cap-Haitien on the North coast.

In the interest of time and money, (and for better roads and weather!) the actual ride will start in Kittery, Maine, go through New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and then wend around in Connecticut, going past all of the parishes and schools in Connecticut that are twinned through OTH with parishes, orphanages, or schools in Haiti.
