The Secretary of the State has sent each town a metal dropbox to enable voters the choice to return their ballots for the August 11, 2020 primary in a secure, contactless manner, minimizing risk of infection from COVID-19.
Voters will also have the choice of returning their ballot by using the postage paid envelope provided in their ballot package. Although Town Hall is open to the public, we encourage voters to return their ballot by dropbox or USPS to minimize exposure to COVID-19.
The box is fabricated by American Security Cabinets and is made from high grade, heavy gauge, brushed stainless steel and is bolted to the concrete.
The box is emptied daily, with ballots stored and locked in the Town Clerk's vault until they are opened on Election Day in front of moderators from the Republican and Democratic parties. Only the Town Clerk and Assistant Town Clerk have keys to access the kiosk. Cameras monitor the box 24 hours a day.
