Tolland Arrests Include Evading Responsibility, Disorderly Conduct

July 4
An all-terrain and unregistered vehicle was traveling southbound along Ellington Road in Tolland. As the vehicle approached the intersection with Shenipsit Lake Road, the operator, a 21-year-old Coventry man, failed to stop for a posted stop sign. He then attempted to execute a left turn onto Shenipsit Latke Road. At this time, the vehicle rolled over, ejecting both the operator and passenger, a 21-year-old Cromwell woman. The operator was uninjured as a result, however, the passenger received minor injuries and was transported by Tolland Ambulance to St. Francis. The operator was issued an infraction for operating without registration, unreasonable speed, and a stop sign violation.

During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Crystal Lake Road in Tolland, the operator was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He was subjected to a series of field sobriety tests that he failed, at which time he was arrested. The operator, Richard H. Hebert, 47, of 31 Aborn Rd. in Ellington, was transported to Troop C where he was processed and charged with evading responsibility, operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol, and failure to drive in proper lane. He was released on bond.

Michael Ridel, 24, of 288 Metcalf Rd. in Tolland, was placed under arrest after a physical altercation with a female victim at a residence in Tolland. He was charged with disorderly conduct and held on $5,000 cash or surety bond. Ridel was scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior Court on July 17.
