Tolland Cares Rallying To Help Local Family
The advocacy group Tolland cares is reaching out to assist a local family.

TOLLAND, CT — The local advocacy organization Tolland Cares has embarked on a fund-raising campaign to help a local family.
According to campaign literature in late October, Seamus Oatis had symptoms of what first seemed like a head cold that his girls just had. Everyone in the house felt better in about a week except for Seamus.
After several tests — including the coronavirus test — appointments with specialists, and overall deteriorating health, Seamus was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in December, according to fund-raising literature.

In January 2021, he started chemotherapy in an effort to reduce "multiple tumors" and "make him more comfortable."
According to Tolland Cares officials, there is no treatment or cure for the type of cancer Seamus has.

"He is doing his best to fight and enjoy the time he has left with his girls – wife, Heather, and daughters, Lydia and Gracie," according to Tolland Cares.
Seamus has been out of work since he first fell ill in October and is unable to return due to the aggressive chemotherapy regimen and advancing cancer symptoms, Tolland Cares officials said. While his wife, Heather, is working full time, the "loss of Seamus’ income is a challenge," Tolland Cares officials said.
