Tolland Cracks Top 5 In Final Girls Soccer Coaches Poll

TOLLAND, CT — A 2-0 victory over Farmington in the Class L girls soccer finals Sunday propelled Tolland High School to earn the number four position in the final girls soccer coaches poll for Classes LL-L.

The Eagles' win, which gave the program its first state title since 1985, enabled Tolland to finish behind Class LL champion Ridgefield, LL runner-up Staples and LL semifinalist Glastonbury in the balloting.

Lewis Mills captured its first Class M title, going into overtime to take down Plainfield 2-1 Sunday, also at West Haven. The Spartans received top nods from six of seven voters in Classes M-S, with Class S champion Old Lyme garnering the other first-place vote to wind up second. Plainfield came in third in the balloting.
