Tolland Fire Station Renovation Process Can Begin In July: Chief
The process to fix up Tolland's aging fire stations can begin in the next fiscal year with the money approved.

TOLLAND, CT — So $5 million in bonding was approved for extensive Tolland Fire Department facility renovations in Tuesday's annual budget meeting.

Tolland Fire Chief said that, because the borrowing is part of the 2021-22 fiscal year financial package, the process cannot b begin until July 1, when the budget takes effect.

Requests for proposals will be sent out then and bids examined once they come in, he said.
The size of firehouse bays have been an issue since 2004 and have become less and less adequate as the years have rolled by and the trucks have become more sophisticated, Littell said.

Conditions in the firehouses have also deteriorated over the years. The extremes are some showers that no longer work and corroding infrastructure.
