TOLLAND, CT — To the Editor:

On November 3rd, 2020, I hope you will join me in re-electing Pat Wilson Pheanious to the 53rd House District, serving Ashford, Tolland and Willington.

Pat has faced numerous challenges head-on, bring a great deal of aid to our district. In 2019 alone, Pat brokered over $50 million dollars to replace Tolland’s Primary school due to catastrophic crumbling foundations.

At 89 percent reimbursement, it is one of the highest rates in state history.

In addition to Tolland's school, 200 homes across our community and region have been repaired and many are on track to be repaired due to Pat's advocacy for homeowners. Pat’s position as Co-Chair of the Bi-partisan Crumbling Foundations Caucus is vital to keeping the state accountable by providing needed aid and subsequent stability to our housing markets. It would be a great disruption to our district to lose that knowledge and position of leadership by changing representation during such uncertain times.

2020 has also wrought an incredible impact to our economy and infrastructure with Covid-19 and Tropical Storm Isaias. In both instances, Pat has delivered on crucial aid to families and businesses facing economic hardship while actively seeking to hold Eversource accountable in the September 29 Special Legislative Session.

And Pat's constant communications via email and virtual meetings with constituents have been a boon to being informed of ongoing changes in our state's vigilant and effective response to Covid-19. On the cusp of another phase of reopening roughly 99% of our economy to partial or full operations prior to flu season and the risk of a potential second wave of Covid-19, staying informed with pertinent and factual information is vital for residents as well as businesses.

Challenges still lay ahead towards bringing economic recovery and quelling Covid-19 while wading through a contentious, hyperbolic and frequently divisive political climate. Yet Pat has served with the empathy, honor and respect that the office greatly needed to have restored these last two years.

Pat has gone above and beyond to deliver much needed aid and information to our communities. And we can expect this kind of effective leadership to continue if re-elected for a second term. That is why Pat Wilson Pheanious has earned my vote on November 3rd, 2020. And I hope she has earned yours too.
