Tolland Lions Club Doing Free Townwide Eye Screening For 6th Year
Lions KidSight Eye Screening Program drawing to a close after three weeks, but there is still time!
The Tolland Lions Club is finishing up three weeks of pediatric eye screening at the Birch Grove School and several town preschools and daycares. If any children have missed this valuable, quick and easy screening, there is still time to get it done. There will be an open walk-in screening at the Tolland Library this Thursday (Oct. 4th) from 4:00 to 6:00 pm (later if needed). The screening takes less than a minute and can identify several common problems. There is a packet of info about the program at the Library, with sample reports to review.
If Thursday evening doesn’t work, there are some openings Thursday and Friday mornings this week at the Tolland Family Resource Center at Birch Grove. Those would need to be scheduled through Laurel Leibowitz, F.R.C. coordinator at 860-870-6750, Ext. 30215.
The Tolland Lions Club has been screening children for six years, and this year we have already screened over 600 children and found 37 with potential problems who were referred to an eye care professional for further evaluation. Many of the detected vision problems can be mitigated or corrected with early intervention.
