Tolland Mourning Loss Of Popular Football Coach

TOLLAND, CT — The Tolland High School community is mourning the loss of football coach coach Scott Cady.

Superintendent of Schools Walter Willett announced his passing "with a heavy heart" on Thursday afternoon. He said Cady died Thursday morning "with his family by his side."

Cady served as head varsity coach for the past two seasons and was an assistant coach with the Eagles for three seasons prior to taking the helm.

He was also a coach at the youth level, Willett said.

"Coach Cady has made a profound and positive impact on many families and children in the Tolland community," he said. "Coach Cady leaves a legacy of players who performed at the highest levels, and who respect and love him. We extend our thoughts and prayers to the Cady family and relations."

The football program released a statement on social media:

"There are no true words to describe the sadness that we are currently feeling in the Tolland football community. Scott put everything he had into our program and exemplified the character of the young men we want here at Tolland Football. His passion, commitment, and care for all of his athletes and coaches are something that we promise to carry forward as a program.

"Scott came into last season with full intentions of finishing it out and helping every single player along the way. That's exactly what he did. He was a man who put everyone else’s needs in front of his own and followed through with his promises. It was an incredibly special year for us at Tolland, and he walked away with his head high and his heart full."
