Tolland Obituary: James Morehouse, 76

Condolences to his family and friends.

James N. Morehouse, 76, of Tolland, beloved husband of over 13 years to Sandra Lee (Cole) Morehouse, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Fort Fairfield, Maine, the son of the late Edison and Neva (Jones) Morehouse, he grew up and lived in Fort Fairfield, Maine before moving to Connecticut in 1963, and he has lived in Tolland for 24 years. He was the founder and owner of Morehouse Construction for over 40 years.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. James was a longtime member of the Rockville Moose Lodge and East Hartford Moose Lodge, the Vernon American Legion Post 14, and the Model “A” Ford Club of Connecticut.

He collected, repaired, and built 1951 Fords. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kimberly Czeczot of Ellington, and Robert Morehouse and his wife Laurie of Charlestown, RI; three step-children, Albert Mack of TX, and Scott and Serena Mack both of Tolland; thirteen grandchildren, Andrew, Taylor, Ashley, Jessica, Dakota, Aleena, Lucian, Rachael, Tyler, Albert Jr., Alexis, Darien, and Maddy; two brothers, Edison Morehouse and his wife Rolande of FL, and Elwyn Morehouse and his wife Berdina of Granby; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Morehouse of Stafford Springs, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Tony Morehouse, his brother Winston Morehouse, and two sisters, Marjorie MacRae, and Mary Lynne McLaughlin.

His family will receive friends for memorial calling hours on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 4 - 7 p.m. followed by a memorial service beginning at 7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.
