Tolland Obituary: Johanna Vanderjagt, 84

Condolences to her family and friends.

Johanna “Joyce” C. (van der Windt) Vanderjagt, 84, of South Windsor, beloved wife of Marinus “Rene” Vanderjagt, died peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Woodlake at Tolland.

She was born on September 2, 1933 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, daughter of the late Nicolaas and Cornelia (van der Eng) van der Windt. Joyce grew up during WWII and overcame many challenges with her family. Joyce was married to the love of her life, Rene, in August 1955 and together they immigrated to the United State in November 1955, where they settled in South Windsor.

She worked for CBT as a clerk for many years. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church of East Hartford. She was an avid reader, enjoyed weather watching and had a passion for clocks. A kind, caring, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she will be dearly missed.

Along with her husband Rene, of over 62 years, she leaves her children, Renee Creech and her husband Paul of West Hartford, and Roy Vanderjagt and his wife Maryann of South Windsor; her brothers, Nicholaas van der Windt and Willem van der Windt both of Holland; her grandchildren, Jillian Mondaca, Jordan Stachowiak, Blake Vanderjagt, and Chloe Mission; her great grandchildren, Sophie, Rylee, and Shiloh; her nephews, Dr. Armand van der Windt and Laurens van der Windt both of Holland; her sister-in-law, Cornelia Paulus of E. Hartford; and her dear friend, Dora Eikelenstam of E. Hartford.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, April 6, 5-8 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 1pm, at the First Congregational Church of East Hartford. Burial will be private at the request of her family.
