
Patrick C. Carney, 46, of Tolland, beloved companion of Barbara Bernhart, and father of Tristan P. Carney, and Shaylin G. Carney, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Patrick was born on June 18, 1971 in Rockville, the son of Francis P. and Dorothy M. (Gregonis) Carney. Pat grew up in Ellington and attended Ellington High School. Patrick was a very talented diesel mechanic and had worked for several companies in the area throughout the years. In his younger years he worked in landscaping and worked for a company building golf courses all over the country.
Pat was an extremely loving and devoted father who enjoyed spending time with his children. He coached football with the Tolland Youth Football and was known by many children as “Coach Pat.” He had a passion for motorcycles and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. Patrick was an avid New England Patriots fan and enjoyed the Boston Red Sox. He loved trips to New Hampshire and the White Mountains.

Patrick had many memorable times spent in the Coop with his family and friends especially on St. Patrick’s Day. Patrick will be remembered for his willingness to help others in need and his big heart.
Patrick’s family is grateful to the doctors and nurses in the ICU at Hartford Hospital for their care and compassion during the last week of his life.

Along with his parents, Francis and Dorothy of Ellington, and his companion, Barbara of Tolland, and his children, Tristan P. Carney, and Shaylin G. Carney both of Tolland; he leaves his brother, Francis P. Carney and his wife Sallie Glickman of Philadelphia, PA; his sister, Mary Susan O’Hara and her husband Peter of Nashville, IN; and his step-children, Nathaniel Bernhart, and Alida Bernhart both of Tolland.
Funeral services were held privately at the request of his family.
