TOLLAND, CT — To the Editor:

Tammy Thomas Nuccio a proven Leader.

I am proudly endorsing Tammy Nuccio for state rep of the 53rd district, representing Tolland, Willington, and Ashford.

She currently serves as the Tolland Town Council chair. Before her commitment to running for state rep, her focus on helping people in Tolland was reassuring and positive. I reached out and asked for help regarding an issue plaguing our well water, (contaminating by road salt) she immediately stepped up and made connections to EHHD (Eastern highland Health District) and DEEP.

From there, I was able to communicate directly with the organization and get continuous updates. After spending thousands on home plumbing repairs, I am headed in the right direction to finding causes and solutions. It was Tammy who cared enough to follow through and get the help I needed.

When the pandemic hit and we were all shut down, as a small business owner, self employed with no income, Tammy spent countless hours gathering information and following up with me and other small business owners to provide direction on unemployment benefits and grants to help keep things afloat. Every day, she would utilize social media, and every resource she could to keep the town informed.

Without her, my business would have gone under and closed permanently.

Regarding the Town Budget: With a new school being built and issues of crumbling foundations, Town Council, and the Board of Education worked hard to find cost savings and reallocate those savings where needed. Her leadership in fiscal responsibility paid off when Gov Lamont took away our right to a referendum vote (by Executive Order). This left the members of Town Council to decide what our new budget would be. Tammy and other Council members were very aware of the circumstance for the town and the community. With Tammy's leadership, they passed a zero percent mill rate increase. My family appreciated the efforts that went into this decision.

Just when we thought things would relax a bit, we got hit with another superstorm which left us without power for days, roads blocked, and many with no resources to water, fuel, or food. Again Tammy stepped up with updates on her phone calls daily to Eversource and the state of Connecticut. Again, she kept up with communications to the town. She helped organized a free water and MRE station to hand out supplies. Her efforts were noticed and appreciated.

I'm just so impressed with Tammy's leadership. She truly cares about this community and the surrounding areas. She never hesitates when an issue surfaces. Tammy will be a voice for all, will ask the tough questions and get the answers. Its time for change in CT. Tammy is that change.I'm voting for Tammy on November 3 and I hope you join me. Let Tammy be YOUR voice in Hartford too.
