1 Injured In Rollover Crash In Westport: Fire Department

Firefighters had to cut a section of the roof of one of the vehicles to free the trapped driver.

WESTPORT, CT — One person suffered injuries that did not appear life-threatening Thursday evening in a rollover crash on Main Street in Westport, according to fire officials.

The crash, in which a Jeep struck the back of a parked landscaping truck and rolled over, occurred at about 6:30 p.m. near the intersection at St. John Place.

"Upon arrival, [firefighters] found a vehicle on its side with the driver trapped in the vehicle," said fire officials in a statement.

Firefighters stabilized the Jeep and cut a section of the roof and the steering wheel to free the driver. No fire was reported, but firefighters had a hose at the ready in case one was ignited.

The driver was treated by emergency medical technicians and taken to the hospital. The crash remains under investigation by Westport police.
