Town Of Westport: Tropical Storm Elsa To Reach The Region Tomorrow Morning

Tropical Storm Elsa will reach Westport in the early morning hours, bringing heavy rains, inland flash flooding and high winds.  Due to the recent rainfall and thunderstorms, grounds are already saturated.  Expect flooding on roads that typically flood.  Prepare for potential power outages and challenging road conditions.  We urge all to plan ahead and stay off the roads tomorrow, July 9th. 

Out of an abundance of caution, all Parks and Recreation Department camps and summer programs, as well as all Westport Public Schools Extended School Year programs and Continuing Education programs wills be canceled tomorrow, July 9th. The Westport Center for Senior Activities has canceled all programs for tomorrow.  Home delivered meals will be delivered on a two hour delay.  Senior Center staff can be reached at 203-341-5099. 

Remember to stay safe and remain at home during the storm.  When driving in the rain, always remember to drive slowly, use your headlights, maintain a safe following distance and avoid flooded roads.
