Author to Speak on Breast Cancer Memoir in Westport

Imagine this: You’re in the middle of a horrific divorce, your best friend just died, both your parents are seriously ill, and you find out you have breast cancer.

Sound like a nightmare? It happened to Redding resident Jude Callirgos, who will speak about her memoir, Breast Left Unsaid: A True and Uncensored Story of Survival, on Thursday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Westport Library’s McManus Room.

Books will be available for purchase and signing at the program, which is free and open to the public. 

Callirgos will talk about the 18 months of her life that were like a “Category 5 Hurricane,” and what it was like to to juggle her diagnosis with her parents’ health issues and a divorce.

In an irreverent, unapologetic, and often funny manner, she picks herself up (“after yelling, generally despairing, and breaking things”) and begins on what readers have described as "an arresting, boldly truthful, poignant, and often hilarious" journey of discovery and hope. A portion of the book-sale proceeds will go to Komen CT's Race for the Cure in Westport on May 11.
