Here are five things to know in and around Westport for Thursday, July 25:
1. Journalist Stephen B. Shepard talks news reporting. Stephen B. Shepard, former editor-in-chief of BusinessWeek and founding dean of the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, discusses his memoir on journalism at a time of radical disruption, "Deadlines and Disruption: The Turbulent Path From Print to Digital." He'll be in the Westport Public Library's McManus Room at 12 p.m.
2. Free indie concert - Rebecca Loebe. Loebe is an indie singer "best known for her songbird voice, spirited live shows, and effervescent wit." She'll be at Levitt Pavilion at 7 p.m. Thursday.Â

3. Â Award-winning documentarian comes to Earthplace. Mark Kitchell will lead a discussion following a screening of his documentary "A Fierce Green Fire." The screening starts at 7 p.m. Purchase tickets ($7 in advance, $9 at the door) and register here. Â
4. "The Secret Garden." The Summer Arts Program at The Bijou Theatre in Bridgeport is proud to present "The Secret Garden" Musical. This enchanting classic of children’s literature is re-imagined in brilliant musical style by composer Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of ‘Night Mother.’ Thursday's show starts at 8 p.m. Click here for more information.
