Bridge Street Bridge to Close for Repairs, Again

The Bridge Street Bridge, located between Bridge Square and Imperial Avenue, will be closed again Thursday on two occasions for up to 30 minutes, according to a message from the Westport Selectman's Office. 

Drivers will be forced to use either I-95 or the Route 1 / Post Road bridge in downtown Westport as a detour.

Traffic was backed up Monday, and last week due to repairs on the same bridge. The bridge has been closed multiple times throughout the year for repairs after it was damaged by Superstorm Sandy.

"The contractor, Cianbro Construction Co., will be making repairs to the mechanical and electrical components of the bridge," First Selectman Gordon Joseloff said in a news release.
