UPDATE: Downtown Streets Reopen After Gas Leak
Downtown streets have reopened after they were shut this morning when a gas leak was discovered.

Update 12:35 p.m.:
Downtown streets have reopened, the Westport News has reported.
Main Street between the Post Road and Elm Street, as well as part of Parker Harding Plaza, were shut down at about 10:30 a.m. after a gas leak was found, the newspaper reported.

The gas line break occurred in front of 35 Main St., according to news website WestportNow.com. and was sealed by gas companty employees.

A gas leak has shut down both vehicle and pedestrian traffic in downtown Westport along Main Street, from the Post Road to Elm Street and part of Parker Harding Plaza, a block west, according to reports.
The gas leak was found Thursday morning, and the streets are closed until further notice, according to a WFSB-TV report. Stores have been evacuated.
Westport police, firefighters and workers from a gas company are at the scene, the television station reported.
The gas line was broken when work crews were making street improvements downtown, the Westport News reported.
