Glowbar Opens First Connecticut Spa In Westport

Glowbar, a unique facial spa with two locations in New York City, has opened its first Connecticut spa in Westport.

WESTPORT, CT — Glowbar, a unique facial spa with two locations in New York City, recently opened its first Connecticut spa at 33 Elm Street in Westport.

The spa officially opened to the public this spring and is the company's third location overall.

According to Studio Manager Amy Lundin, Glowbar's decision to open up shop in Westport was part of the company's desire to expand into the suburbs, as their other locations are located in the Tribeca and Upper East Side neighborhoods of New York City.

"We wanted to branch out into the suburbs and fell in love with Westport," Lundin said. "What set Westport aside from other locations the team was looking into, besides the beautiful aesthetics, was the amount of small owned businesses and sense of community."

Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce president Matthew Mandell celebrated the new spa's recent opening, noting it was a positive sign for local businesses following the challenges many faced last year as a result of the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

"[Glowbar] choosing Westport for their first spa outside of New York City once again shows our town's allure," Mandell said.

Mandell attributed Glowbar's decision to open a location in Westport to the town's overall vibe.

"Clearly Westport is an affluent community," Mandell said, "but we are seen as a low key New England small town. That seems to attract businesses, shoppers and residents."

According to Lundin, Glowbar offers customers targeted treatments, not spa facials. Treatments typically take about 30 minutes and cost one flat price with no add ons.

Lundin emphasized Glowbar's focus on real results for customers, not quick fixes, as well as skin care guides as opposed to false promises.

She also noted the average person who seeks out skin care will typically go to an esthetician quarterly or yearly, if at all.

"What ends up happening is you spend a lot of time trying out different products and self-diagnosing what's going with your skin," Lundin said. "Here at Glowbar, we make it affordable and really focus on what your specific skin care needs are to feel confident in your own skin."

Customers who sign up for a membership will receive their monthly facial at $55 and 10 percent off of retail, as well as the ability to bring a friend for free once a year, Lundin said. Additionally, all customer referrals will result in $10 being added to their account to go towards retail.

Most importantly, customers can enter into Glowbar with a feeling of trust, Lundin said.

"Our team is not commission based," Lundin said. "We are truly here to help you tackle skin concerns and make you feel confident."
