Lachat Town Farm Honors Local Women for International Women’s Day

Weston's Lachat Town Farm Celebrates International Women's Day by Honoring Local Women

Weston, Conn. (March 8th, 2021) – Lachat Town Farm celebrates International Women’s Day on Mon., March 8th by honoring 36 local women who, during this past year, have made a significant positive impact on the community. Honorees include healthcare professionals, high school students, town representatives, community activists, and more.

“Those being honored are among many talented and dedicated women who were nominated through Lachat Town’s Farm call for submissions,” said Elizabeth Zeppernick, Chair of Lachat Town Farm’s Commission. “Although we are honoring 35 individuals, they represent each of us – women who are fully committed to the betterment of their community, families, and each other.”

Local producers collaborated to create a beautiful tribute video highlighting each of the honorees. The video includes photos, poetry, songs, and quotes as well as a performance through song by local performing arts students from SBE Studio, which is led by Jodi Stevens, a Broadway veteran and vocal/theatre coach. Additionally, an original song was penned by Stephen Whittemore Collins.

The event, sponsored by Camelot Realty, is part of a community celebration that includes the purchase of Tea Party Boxes from women owned businesses, Dough & Co. and Teawrks. Local girl scout troupes delivered gifts and the award to all confirmed nominees.

“Since Lachat could not host their annual International Women’s Day tea party in person, this virtual experience will still allow us to celebrate this day together,” Zeppernick said. “Those who are attending the virtual tea party will have first access to the honoree video.”
