Letter: Jennifer Tooker is 'Only Choice' for Board of Finance

Jennifer Tooker merits the vote of Westporters for the Board of Finance on Nov. 5. Those who attend BOE meetings or watch them on TV, know that as a member of that board Jen is bright, articulate and always thoroughly prepares for the meetings. She is unfailingly polite and friendly to the public and a good listener. Most importantly, she has the highest level of integrity.

If Westporters elect Ms. Tooker to the Board of Finance in November, they will have someone on that board with a unique background. Ms. Tooker has intimate knowledge of the education budget, which is over 60 percent of the total Town budget. In the years that I have been involved in Westport politics, I do not recall having a member of the Board of Finance who has previously served on the Board of Education. Ms. Tooker's unmatched knowledge will be a tremendous asset to the Board of Finance as it considers the education budget.

Ms. Tooker has a superb background in finance where she served as a high level executive for General Re for over 20 years in many locations both at home and abroad.  An important part of her work included managing intricate financial budgets. This experience will serve her well on the Board of Finance.

I urge all Westporters to vote for Jennifer Tooker for Board of Finance on Nov. 5. She is the only choice.
