Peace: Spreading the Message in Westport

Westport resident David Royce, pictured holding the sign that states, "No More War," has been promoting peace at the corner of Jesup Road and Post Road East for nine years.

Westport native and former Chief of Police, Ron Malone, accompanies Royce on Saturdays to help spread the message and wave at drivers who honk their horns.

Malone has a grandnephew in the U.S. Special Forces and he believes the time has come to "resolve these problems."

"Many of these problems can be resolved by means other than war and violence. I truly believe that," said Malone, who was the Westport Police Chief from 1984 - 1990.

Malone, who is wearing the sign that states, "Honk for Peace," grew up on Richmondville Avenue just north of downtown Westport.
