Rain Today, Fair Tomorrow -- with Sun, Sun, Sun and 70s Temps

Saturday is the best day to be outdoors around here for a long, long time, and if you weren’t zipping down to the Caribbean for the recent school break, well — you get Saturday in the 70s for free (although it could get a bit gusty).

Showers are expected Friday from morning to early afternoon, with the temperature only in the 60s after that, the National Weather Service says. Sunday doesn’t have any rain in the forecast, but it will be cooler, in the 50s and 60s.

For the rest of the upcoming week, the weather service says it will probably rain on Monday and it may well rain on other weekdays. At this point, Weather.com expects next weekend’s temperatures to only hit the 50s.

Here’s the Westport-specific forecast from the National Weather Service (as of the 7:52 a.m., Friday update):

• Friday — Showers likely, mainly between 3pm and 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 67. West wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
• Friday night — A chance of showers before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 52. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Saturday — Sunny, with a high near 77. Northwest wind 5 to 13 mph becoming southwest in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph.
• Saturday night — Mostly clear, with a low around 41. Northwest wind 7 to 13 mph.
• Sunday — Sunny, with a high near 59. North wind around 7 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.
• Sunday night — A chance of rain, mainly after 4am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 43. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Monday — Rain likely, mainly after 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 55. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
• Monday night — Rain. Low around 50. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
• Tuesday — A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 64. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
• Tuesday night — Partly cloudy, with a low around 44.
• Wednesday — Mostly sunny, with a high near 60.
• Wednesday night — A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
