Staples Golfers Medal in Borck Junior Tournament

Two members of the Staples High School  Girls' Golf Team were the Medalists Monday at the Borck Junior Golf Tournament hosted by the Patterson Club in Fairfield.  

Two-time defending champion Faith Garcia, a Staples captain, was the overall medalist with a 78, according to Coach Patty Kondub. 

Anelise Browne carded an 85 as the 15 & under medalist.  

The girls advanced to Round One of match play Tuesday and hope to advance to round two Tuesday afternoon, Kondub said. 

The finals are Wednesday. Staples has a good chance of representation in the finals as two other Staples captains, Mary Bennewitz and Christie Cantor, also advanced.  

This is the 43rd year of the Borck Tourament, which is held in memory of Jay Borck, a young golfer who died of a cerebral hemorrhage in 1968 at the age of 16.
