Westport BOE Welcomes New Long Lots Elementary Principal

From The Westport BOE: The Westport Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Debra Dunn as the next Principal of Long Lots Elementary School. Dr. Dunn was the unanimous selection of an interview committee comprised of parents, staff members, administrators and Board of Education members.

Dr. Dunn brings extensive experience as an administrator to this new role having served as an elementary principal for over 20 years in both Andover and Weston, Massachusetts, and most recently as the Superintendent of Schools in York, Maine. She promotes innovation through a collaborative process that allows all members of the school community to pursue their hopes and dreams. Her focus on bringing joy to learning through a child-centered approach will serve the Long Lots community well.

Dr. Dunn earned her bachelor’s degree with a dual major in Elementary and Special Education from Fitchburg State University. She went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Educational Administration/Early Childhood from Worcester State University. From there, Dr. Dunn earned both a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Curriculum, Policy and Planning and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Massachusetts. She is a member of numerous associations including the Harvard University Principal Center and has taught graduate classes at the University of Southern New Hampshire, Lesley University, Regis College and Cambridge College.
