Westport Coronavirus Update: Cases And Vaccinations

WESTPORT, CT — Coronavirus cases and hospitalizations have been trending down in Connecticut over the past few weeks.

Connecticut had 36.1 daily average cases per 100,000 population between Jan. 24 and Feb. 6 — that’s the lowest two-week average since early November.

Westport recorded 25 new coronavirus cases between Feb. 4 and 10, according to state health officials. There have been 1,325 cases recorded since the pandemic began and 27 coronavirus-deaths.

Westport had 26.2 average daily cases per 100,000 residents between Jan. 24 and Feb. 6 and a positive test rate of 3.90 percent. There were 27.2 average daily cases per 100,000 residents in the previous two-week reporting period. It’s important to note that a relatively small number of cases can have a big effect on the case rate, especially in smaller towns.

Vaccines

The state opened vaccination appointments for people between 65 and 74 years old on Thursday.

Westport had 2,758 first doses administered as of Feb. 11, according to state health officials. About 9.68 percent of town residents have received at least one dose and 65.64 percent of residents 75 and older have received at least one dose.
