Westport Hires New Human Resources Director


First Selectman Gordon Joseloff announced the appointment of Ralph M. Chetcuti as personnel director/human resources director for the Town of Westport. 

Chetcuti, who started today, fills a position that has been vacant since March 2011. Finance Director Gary Conrad has served as acting personnel director. 

“Ralph has broad human resources experience that made him a standout candidate for this position as we work to integrate town and school personnel and human resources operations,” said First Selectman Gordon Joseloff. Chetcuti was selected from 45 applicants during a series of interviews that culminated in the finalists being interviewed by Joseloff and Republican and Democratic members of the Board of Finance. 

Chetcuti most recently has been providing human resources consulting to various companies. Earlier, he served in human resources positions with the New York City District Council of Carpenter Benefits Funds, Newmark Knight Frank, a leading commercial real estate advisory firm, The New York Racing Association, and The New York Times. 

In his 21 years with The New York Times, Chetcuti rose from an employee benefits analyst to director of labor relations. He holds a B.A. from Dowling CollegeOakdaleN.Y., and has studied human resources, employee relations, and related disciplines at New York University and Cornell University. 

He lives in Easton with his wife, Lorraine, and sons Alexander, 21, and Matthew, 18.
