Westport Reminds Residents of First Quarter Taxes Are Due

Residents are reminded that all taxes include real estate taxes, personal property taxes, motor vehicle taxes and will be due Jul. 1.

From The City of Westport: Tax Collector Peggy Klein reminded residents today that first quarter real estate taxes, personal property taxes, motor vehicle taxes and sanitary sewer use and assessment charges are due July 1, 2017. Bills will be mailed next week and taxpayers have until August 1, 2017 to pay taxes without penalty. Accounts will be subject to an 18 percent (1.5 percent/month) penalty charge if paid late. Minimum interest charge is $2.00.

Failure to receive a bill does not abate the charges or interest.

Real estate taxes, personal property taxes, motor vehicle taxes, and sanitary use and assessment bills may be paid by credit card, debit card, or direct withdrawal from a checking account on-line at www.westportct.gov.

In addition, the initial tax bills will include the attached notification to taxpayers indicating that a supplemental tax billing may be necessary in the future. This possible supplemental billing may be necessary to account for the State of Connecticut’s budget shortfalls which may be transferred to municipalities in the form of additional taxes.
