Westport Tree Board to Host a Seed Giveaway for Arbor Day

Westporters will get the chance to plant their very own trees on April 25 and 29.

From the Town of Westport: The Westport Tree Board announced today that it will celebrate Arbor Day and Green Day with two special events:

On Arbor Day, Tuesday, April 25, sapling trees will be given away in front of Town Hall, from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.

On Green Day, Saturday, April 29, in conjunction with festivities at Earthplace, the Tree Board will be at the Lillian Wadsworth Arboretum, 2 Woodside Lane from 12 noon – 3 p.m. for an additional giveaway of native saplings, to direct visitors on tours of the Arboretum, and to conduct a free raffle – the lucky winner will receive a wooden bench, hand-made from black locust wood harvested on the Arboretum property, and created by Tree Board member Dick Stein.

This is the fourth consecutive year that tree saplings will be given away by the Westport Tree Board. The seedlings will come with planting instructions and are on a first come, first serve basis.

The seedlings are provided through a generous donation by Eversource Energy.
