Westport's Back to School Program Starts Aug. 5
The program offers new backpacks and school supplies as well as Payless gift cards to income-eligible families with children in the Westport school system.

Consider this a reminder: Westport's “Back to School Program” will kick off on Monday, Aug. 5, and run through Monday, Aug. 12
The program offers new backpacks and school supplies as well as Payless gift cards to income-eligible families with children in the Westport school system.
“As we draw closer to the start of this year’s program, the Human Services Department is beginning preparations to ensure that all students are well equipped for the coming school year,” Barbara Butler, director of Human Services, said.

The Back to School program depends solely upon the generosity of community individuals and organizations. This year Butler expects close to 200 students from over 100 income-eligible families to participate in the program.
Donations at any level are greatly appreciated.

Tax-deductible monetary donations made payable to “Town of Westport/DHS Family Programs” (memo: Backpacks) are appreciated and should be mailed to Department of Human Services, 110 Myrtle Avenue, Westport, CT 06880.
Also, donations of new school supplies of all types, including backpacks (the larger the better), may be dropped off Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Room 200 at Westport Town Hall.
In addition, gift cards of any amount to Staples, Target, Walmart, Old Navy, etc. are very much appreciated.
Westport families who feel they may qualify for this program are urged to contact the Department of Human Services at 203-341-1050.
