Westport's Kitt Shapiro Brings Her Style to WEST on Post Road
Kitt Shapiro Curates Fashion Boutique Featuring Some of Her Mother Eartha Kitt's Designs at 117 Post Road East, Westport
Kitt Shapiro has lived in Westport, Connecticut for over 20 years and was long-known as a fashion icon as a philanthropist helping many charities like the American Cancer Society, Colorectal Cancer Alliance and St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation among others.
Earlier this year, Kitt Shapiro was inspired to become a boutique owner when the founder of WEST moved to California. For many years, Kitt Shapiro ran a successful online business Simply Eartha featuring designs inspired by her late mother the legendary Eartha Kitt. Bucking a retail trend that shies away from traditional brick and mortar businesses these days, Kitt Shapiro forged ahead to Main Street USA at 117 Post Road East, Westport.
Kitt Shapiro says she is inspired by Bill Mitchell of Mitchells department store a bit further north on the Post Road from her shop. "To paraphrase Bill Mitchell, you are connecting with your community when you shop locally," said Kitt Shapiro.

As a native Californian, Kitt Shapiro feels curating West Coast brands to showcase to Westporters is the perfect blend of her life.
"My shop is a curated fashion boutique with a West Coast vibe and an East Coast edge," in describing WEST by Kitt Shapiro. "If Chanel and Jimmy Hendrix had a daughter, she would shop at WEST," Shapiro added. "WEST is best known for its large selection of comfortable and unique jeans," Shapiro added.

The best-sellers in the shop are jeans and jackets from brands like Smythe according to Kitt Shapiro. Other top sellers include graphic T-Shirts featuring Bob Marley and the Grateful Dead. There is also a wonderful collection of gifts like hand bags, collectibles, and home accessories.
Not surprisingly, one of the brands Kitt Shapiro carries is n:Philanthropy. It is a fashion-forward, philanthropic apparel company that donates 10% net proceeds to charity.
Visit WEST seven days a week, Monday to Friday 10 - 6; Saturdays 10 - 5; and Sundays 12pm - 5pm at 117 Post Road East, Westport with plenty of parking on the Post Road in front. You might even see Kitt Shapiro working there.
